Select flowers when they are in the bud and half-open. Colour of the petals must start to show. Purchase buds that are too tightly. They never can bloom as irises and roses tulips, Daffodils. The bottom three florets of Gladioli must be opened and the top are in the bud. Kelix for cloves must be firm and tight. Kelix is green below the flower that preserves intact.
